Guido's Staff Party

Norma and Toby returned from their holiday in the north having decided to close the restaurant on the Thursday for 'deep cleaning' so why not throw a staff party.  Not just a braai, everyone was ferried down to the marina in the buggy and commandeered cars. Drinks and a buffet lunch were loaded and off we set for a cruise up the river Kowie.

Wednesday 2 nd April – Yesterday I had a run around the town in the car, first time I've driven in 3 years, taking my sister around to pay the monthly bills. In a world of internet banking, debit cards and mobile phones sometimes the old ways are the best. Personal contact between supplier and customer results in a better service when things run short and it is a good way to build friendships in the community. It was interesting working out who had right of way when the cross-roads all had 'stop' lines, you go in turn – simples, sort of. More of the town on another trip. Suffice it to say that, prior to it becoming a popular marina Port Alfred was, literally, a port and a very busy one too. Monday 31st dawned bright and sunny as I rolled over and went back to sleep. Whoever said that you can sleep on a night flight is very much mistaken! Eventually I dragged myself out of bed and one hot shower and a glass of fresh orange later began to unpack and find my way around my two-bedroom home for the next two months. As you can see my views over West Beach and across to East Beach are absolutely stunning.  Time slipped away so breakfast became brunch when I walked over to Guido's. What to have “Guido's Beefburger” leapt out at me from the page along with a mug of coffee. I felt like one of those Discovery Channel American's stuffing my face as I cleared the last morsel, it was then that my sister let on that she usually shares one! Oh well some exercise was called for so I set out for a wander along the coast road to find Kelly's Beach which is the safest area to swim.
